Carrah Roy ~ Executive Director
Carrah joined American Majority as Executive Director for the American Majority of Texas in November 2009. Prior to joining American Majority, Carrah lived in Washington, DC, where she was an attorney at Hogan & Hartson LLP, while her husband worked as a senior adviser to Senator John Cornyn tirelessly fighting bad legislation and big government. In the past, Carrah also served as a policy event coordinator for Bush-Cheney ‘04 and as a graduate fellow analyst at the Central Intelligence Agency.
A Texas native, Carrah has family all over the state, particularly in west Texas, and is a product of Texas public schools from start to finish. Carrah graduated cum laude from Texas A & M University in 2000 and with honors from the University of Texas School of Law in 2003.
Currently residing in McKinney, Texas, Carrah and her husband, Chip, are the parents of one son, Charlie. In their free time, Carrah and Chip love nothing more than great, live Texas music.
Which Founding Father do you relate most with, and why?
George Mason. He was a leader of those who pressed for the addition of explicit protection of the rights of the states and individuals from the overreach of the federal government, and actually did not sign the Constitution because it did not contain sufficient such protections. I believe that this country will only flourish in the future if states reject the ever-growing and inappropriate role of federal government and return most governmental power to people acting in their local communities and states.
What is your favorite city to train in and why?
My favorite city in which to do just about anything is Austin, Texas.
What reality show do you think you would perform best on?
Hmm…I’m not a reality show watcher, but perhaps a foodie show? I love to cook, and, while not trained as a chef in any way, I’d at least have a great time trying to hold my own!
How does Carrah compare to the American majority:
69% of Americans eat the cake before the frosting, do you?
No way, frosting first!
71% of Americans can drive a stick shift, can you?
Yes, my first car was a stick shift, and my favorite car is still our Jeep Wrangler.
57% of Americans save pretty wrapping paper for reuse, do you?
No, I’m just too lazy to do that.
67% of Americans report having fired a gun, have you?
Yes. I am from Texas.
68% of Americans engage in social media, do you? How often?
No, but I suppose I’m about to give in and start. I plan to begin slowly with Facebook – I confess that I don’t really “get” Twitter yet…

Raz Shafer ~ North Texas Field Representative
Raz joined American Majority in June of 2009 and currently serves as the North Texas Field Representative. Prior to joining American Majority, Raz attended Hillsdale College, graduating with a B.S. in Political Economy. As part of that degree program, he completed internships with the Texas Public Policy Foundation and U.S. Congressman John Carter. He was also an active member and officer in the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
Raised in rural Erath County, Texas, Raz grew up with an appreciation of the freedoms our republic affords. Rifle competitions, music and serial entrepreneurship emerged early as key interests and he has continued his pursuit of each through the present. Raz currently resides in Fort Worth, Texas.
Which Founding Father do you relate most with, and why?
John Adams. He was a unwavering proponent of liberty and very much a common man. While he made many clear mistakes, he was always open to wise counsel, especially that of his wife, Abigail, with whom he had a relationship worthy of emulation. Far from a perfect man, John Adams dedicated his personal and professional life to his country. He laid his heart, body and soul on the altar of freedom and American prosperity.
What is your favorite city to train in and why?
It’s a tough call but I’d have to say my home town of Stephenville, TX. During the training there, I was able to train and empower people I’ve grown up around and that I share a great deal in common with. The best part though, is looking at the results of the training and seeing my own home town and county being benefited so greatly by local activists using what I taught them in a place that I still call home.
What reality show do you think you would perform best on?
I’d want to be a guest star on Man vs. Wild with Bear Grylls.
How does Raz compare to the American majority:
69% of Americans eat the cake before the frosting, do you?
I am in the minority. Each bite should contain a bit of each.
71% of Americans can drive a stick shift, can you?
I am in the majority. My dad taught me how to drive one when I was 12 and I still find it the most enjoyable type of vehicle to drive!
57% of Americans save pretty wrapping paper for reuse, do you?
I am in the minority. I still open presents like a 5 year old on Christmas morning so the paper doesn’t usually end up in salvageable pieces.
67% of Americans report having fired a gun, have you?
I am in the majority. During highschool I shot regularly in local and state rifle/pistol competitions and continued that track as a firearms instructor at Hillsdale College.
68% of Americans engage in social media, do you? How often?
I am in the majority. I’ve been on Facebook since 2004 and hopped on the Twitter bandwagon in January of ‘09. On a daily basis I’m on Twitter and Facebook engaging with friends and fellow conservatives.

Andrew Kerr ~ Central Texas Field Representative
Andrew Kerr joined American Majority in August of 2009 and currently serves as a Field Representative for the state of Texas.
Prior to returning to Texas and joining American Majority, Andrew worked for President Bush’s National Security Advisor at the White House in Washington, D.C. Before going to Washington, Andrew served as the Community Relations Coordinator for Texans for Fiscal Responsibility (TFR) during the Texas Legislature’s 80th Session. At TFR he facilitated the development and execution of a successful strategic grassroots advocacy and education campaign promoting the values of personal liberty, smaller government, and responsible fiscal policy.
Andrew graduated cum laude from Southwestern University in 2006 specializing in Political Science and History. Andrew resides with his wife in Austin, Texas.
Which Founding Father do you relate most with, and why?
James Madison. I very much appreciate the theoretical and practical approaches James Madison took to the crafting of the American Republic, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. My affinity for political theory/philosophy also resonates in Madison as he could be called the one of the truly American political philosophers with his views and arguments embodied in the Federalist Papers. I identify strongly with Madison’s important contributions and interpretations on religious liberty and political pluralism as they remain seminal to the American political/societal experience of today.
What is your favorite city to train in and why?
No favorite yet.
What reality show do you think you would perform best on?
Discovery’s “The Colony” That kind of stuff always interests me…
How does Andrew compare to the American majority:
69% of Americans eat the cake before the frosting, do you?
The majority, I don’t like frosting.
71% of Americans can drive a stick shift, can you?
The majority, my truck isn’t a manual, but the ability to drive stick is definitely an important life skill to have.
57% of Americans save pretty wrapping paper for reuse, do you?
The minority, I’m not opposed to re-gifting, but re-wrapping is where I draw the line.
67% of Americans report having fired a gun, have you?
The majority, I have fired several.
68% of Americans engage in social media, do you? How often?
The majority, social media is an essential tool I use, I’m online daily.
