Grassroots Ground Game Helps Secure Historic Win in PA

March 31, 2014

When it comes to winning a write-in campaign, a candidate’s chances are extremely slim from the start. Running a successful write-in campaign against a political machine decreases the chance of success even further! So how is it that newly elect Scott Wagner was able not only to win a seat in the Pennsylvania State Senate, but to win by a considerable margin of 47.7 percent? It all comes down to the planning and grassroots organization.

Messaging played a large part in Scott Wagner’s campaign. The Wagner campaign avoided engaging in the nasty mudslinging that was coming from the opposition and focused on getting a positive message out. In order to accomplish the task at hand, winning the primary, Wagner needed a small army of volunteers. Scott Wagner was able to draw many volunteers to his message and organize them in the most effective manner, building his army.

The campaign gained national attention, quickly bringing more energy to Wagner’s campaign. With the help of Citizens Alliance of Pennsylvania, hundreds of volunteers flocked to his campaign and hit the streets to help spread information on how to write-in Wagner’s name at the polls correctly. On election day, Wagner also had the help of a non-profit organization dedicated to raising the standards of living in Pennsylvania by restoring the Constitutional principles of limited government, economic freedom, and personal responsibility. Wagner’s well executed election-day operations and effective ground game brought about his victory.

Scott Wagner is the first candidate to ever win a write-in campaign for a Senate seat! His historic win is proof that if you have the heart, drive, and well-organized ground game you can beat the odds.
