What’s Up with Colorado Conservatives?

Is it July already? The past few months have flown by at American Majority Colorado. Since we began the state chapter in April, we have already trained 200 activists and new leaders – but this is only the beginning!

2016 has already been a whirlwind political cycle. The national unrest of the electorate has been front and center in Colorado. Incumbents have struggled, newcomers have made a splash, and there are many ballot initiatives up for a vote this fall. In a word, the conservative movement is at a difficult but exciting place here in Colorado. While the movement struggles for identity, there are so many who are using their skills to advance conservative policy and more importantly, the message. At a time when many politicians are turning to big government for an answer to today’s problems, hundreds and thousands of conservatives in Colorado are committed and devoted to advancing limited government.

We know that building human political capital through top-notch training will move the needle for the right. American Majority Colorado wants to be a vessel for that mission by educating the next generation of conservative leaders in the Mountain West. We have already trained up and down the Front Range of Colorado. In addition to organizing trainings with some of the best grassroots conservative leaders, we have also partnered with multiple other organizations to conduct training.

Most notably, we took part in the Western Conservative Summit in Denver on July 1-3. We conducted two trainings at the Summit. American Majority Founder and CEO Ned Ryun gave the first presentation on Friday afternoon. The crowd was dazzled with his insights on the Obama machine in 2012 and the impact that data and analytics are having on campaigns in 2016. On Saturday, National Executive Director Matt Batzel, Communications Director Aubrey Blankenship, and I presented on social media activism– including Facebook, Twitter, and personal branding online. In addition, Colorado intern and Hillsdale College student Kathleen Russo staffed our table and helped live tweet our training! It was so great to have the national team out in Denver for weekend, and we also thank Colorado Christian University and Centennial Institute for giving us the opportunity to be a sponsor of the event again this year!

As we look forward to the rest of the year, the need for American Majority in Colorado cannot be overstated. Next month, we will be moving into a new office space in the heart of downtown Denver. This will be the center of operations in Colorado. The left continues to train their permanent political structure from the ground-up. This year, they are hungrier than ever to advance a big-government agenda in Colorado. We can’t let them! We want to empower you to accomplish your goals in the name of liberty and conservatism.

In the upcoming months, American Majority Colorado is hitting the ground running. In addition to already-scheduled trainings in Castle Rock, Pueblo, and Adams County, we also look forward to sponsoring and training at the Freedom Festival hosted by our friends at the Steamboat Institute in late August. For more in-depth information regarding upcoming trainings, please visit our website and register! If you are interested in setting up a training in your area, please reach out to me at nick@americanmajority.org. I would love to work with you!

As the organizing arm of the right, it’s up to us to ensure conservatives are prepared to take on the many challenges they face, and encourage conservatives to get involved in government at the most local level. By educating not only tactics, but how to get involved, we can build the structure in Colorado we need to shrink the size of government at every level. This is only the beginning.
