National politics have been consuming a great deal of any political conversation. In the media, online, and in person, people just can’t stop talking about what’s happening in Washington, DC. But is that really the most important part of our political lives? Don’t get me wrong, there are crucial issues that can only be tackled on a national scale, such as foreign policy, healthcare, and the $20 trillion in debt our country faces, just to name a few. But ultimately the part of government that impacts your life the most on a daily basis isn’t decided in DC. It’s city councilors, mayors, state delegates, and school-board members who are making the decisions that will affect you the most.
