Kansas Activist Connects Local Like-Minded Conservatives
April 23, 2010
American Majority asked the question “Now What?” after the 2009 tea parties, and again following this year’s tea parties through our website AfterTheTeaParty.com. The question often arises at trainings as well- people wonder how involved our activists remain, how our candidates fare in the elections, what our college students trained through Campus Majority go on to accomplish.
A great story from here in Kansas is a woman named Julanne. Julanne attended one of our political activist trainings in May of last year following the April tea parties. At the training, we discussed the fundamentals of building effective coalitions, organizing events, holding government accountable, communicating your views, and volunteering in campaigns. I was excited to receive an email from Julanne a few weeks ago, letting me know that she was applying all those skills together in an upcoming event.
On April 24, Julanne will help to host a meeting called “Wake Up America” with local speakers from grassroots and tea party groups and both current elected officials and candidates campaigning for the people’s vote in this year’s election. Following the event, there will be a full hour of questions, networking and connecting with individuals within the community. Individuals who attend the meeting will meet and have the opportunity to build coalitions with other liberty-minded individuals, hold government accountable by communicating with their existing elected officials, get involved in the campaigns of any candidates they may agree with, and more.
American Majority isn’t about rallies or pep talks, though both have their purpose. We exist to train individuals like Julanne, to give people the education, tools and resources they need to go back to their own communities, and to make a difference for liberty.
We’re constantly offering Activist, Candidate and Campus trainings throughout the state and nation. Coming up in just a few weeks are unique opportunities for advanced training with the Post Party Summits, happening in seven cities nation-wide.
