Get Out The Vote: Now or Never
October 26, 2016
It’s that time of year again; it all comes down to this. No, I’m not talking about baseball’s Fall Classic (Go Tribe), it’s time crunch time for the elections. Ads, rallies, and debates are behind us. Now it’s all about getting out the vote.
The campaigns have been in full swing for months (if not years) but this is make or break time. Now is the time that complacent candidates try to cruise to the finish on the inertia of their ad buys, but savvy campaigners put it into high gear.
That means pounding the pavement and knocking on as many doors as you possibly can between now and election day. Conversations with voters are the most proven means to drive people to the ballot box. Studies show that authentic, face-to-face connections increase turnout rates from 44% to 53%.
You can only vote once, but your actions from now to election day can drive voters to the booth that might have otherwise stayed at home. Every vote counts and those who say differently are seriously mistaken. Voting matters even more in state and local elections; in Hillsdale, MI, an 18-year-old won the mayoral race by just 2 votes. If his parents hadn’t gone to vote, he wouldn’t have been elected.
Ground game, going door to door, is crucial as these smaller elections and ballot initiatives come down to the wire. Be the advocate for conservative principles that your community needs. Spend your time between now and election day doing more than just voting.
Turn your vote into dozens, just by knocking on a few doors.
