Need a refresher on who we are and what we do? The stunning record of Wisconsin conservatives and our very own Wisconsin state chapter were featured last week on WisconsinWatchdog.org. Take three minutes to read this snapshot of conservative success in the Badger State:
MADISON, Wis. – Matt Batzel looked out into a sea of faces, tens of thousands of demonstrators gathered on the grounds of the state Capitol, and took comfort in knowing that a sizable portion were there to “Stand with Scott Walker,” to back conservative principles.
These were the heady days of Wisconsin’s historic battles over Act 10, Walker’s reform measure that changed the rules on public-sector collective bargaining in the Badger State.
On Feb. 19, 2011, the usual crowd of thousands (bused-in union members and their left-leaning allies) were in full force protesting the legislation. Rallying next to them, however, were between 8,000 and 10,000 free-market conservatives, from housewives to a tea party icon, the late Andrew Brietbart.
“This is an existential battle. It’s the battle of our times. I’m sorry, but I consider this to be the electronic civil war, in which the mainstream media has taken its side,” Breitbart proclaimed, with his famous take-no-left-wing-prisoners flair.
