1,716 Students & Activists Learned to Make a Difference this Spring
June 12, 2014
American Majority was proud to partner with Young Americans for Liberty (YAL) this year, training students and activists at their state conventions across the country. Nine American Majority trainers from each American Majority state office traveled to separate events — from South Carolina to California, Florida to Wisconsin — to interact with 1,716 enthusiastic convention attendees.
YAL state conventions are one-day events designed to build stronger state networks. Each convention featured speakers who motivated and trained attendees to be effective in their states and local communities. We trained students and activists to successfully organize on campus, recruit and motivate volunteers, and communicate online. It was refreshing to see so many liberty-minded students putting in time and energy to take a stand on their often liberal college campuses.
As one student described it, “Being on the west coast, and in a very liberal state, California, it sometimes feels like we’re on an island. But thanks to YAL, the message of liberty is spreading far and wide on college campuses. Our statewide network of pro-liberty youth activists is one of the strongest in the country, and it’s thanks to the activism, training, and other programs carried out by YAL.”
YAL just released their report detailing their success. YAL Executive Director Jeff Frazee states, “In February, we launched our 12 State Conventions to build stronger state networks. Our goal was to train 1,500 activists, but I’m proud to report we far surpassed this goal with over 1,700 trained. Not to mention, the incredible lineup of speakers that headlined our events.”
We’re looking forward to seeing the impact each attendee will make on their college campuses and in their communities this fall. Great job, YAL!
