Redistricting-Inspired Voter Fraud Afoot

In the final days leading up to Tuesday’s critical elections, reports are making the rounds on the Internet that Democrats have acknowledged that they will lose the House of Representatives..

“[John] Kerry was touring Boston Medical Center and decided to enlighten everyone around him by laying his philosophy about the 2010 elections on everyone. This is what he said:

‘We have an electorate that doesn’t always pay that much attention to what’s going on so people are influenced by a simple slogan rather than the facts or the truth or what’s happening,’

Exactly. A simple slogan like, oh I don’t know, ‘Yes We Can.’ Or maybe ‘Hope and Change.’”

Of course, the mainstream media continues to carry water for the Democrats. The question is: If the Democrats are so resigned to losing, then what’s going on in Harris County, Texas?  In recent days, tension in the county has been at a fever pitch as local Democrats spread fear and warn of voter intimidationRedState reports that even the local Democrat party has gotten involved by posting an inflammatory message on its website. View the article for the screen shot.

“Notice the words in the first paragraph:

URGENT – THE TEA PARTY IS TRYING TO KEEP YOU FROM VOTING IN THIS ELECTION. DON’T LET THEM!

And further down in the message:

WE CANNOT LET THEM GET AWAY WITH THIS. WE FOUGHT TOO HARD FOR THE RIGHT TO VOTE TO LET A BUNCH OF BIGOTS AND THUGS TAKE IT AWAY FROM US NOW.

Nice, isn’t it. This is how the Dems are operating in Texas, folks. And contrary to what they are saying in the email above, it is the Dems who are intimidating Ms. Engelbrecht’s trained via -Texas- law poll watchers. They are even suing her.”

ACORN and groups like it are known for operating under the radar and rarely cause trouble in strict law enforcement states. For example, the Virginia chapter of ACORN in Virginia Beach, VA had several members arrested after one of their “typical shakedown protests.”  So why mess with Texas? The answer lies on the website of the Soros and Rockerfeller funded America Votes. Click pictures to enlarge.

Voters in 35 states will determine which party will redraw congressional districts for the 2010 election and ultimately control Congress through 2022.

Following the 2000 census, Republican control of the last redistricting process in just five states – Florida, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas – resulted in a 31-seat swing in Congress.”

Redistricting? Yes. While the Right is eyeing certain victory, it is being out thought by the Left. Leftist have proven time and time again that they are willing to throw each other under the bus to protect long term interests. Voters need to look beyond the House and examine other key races.

Control of these state legislatures could be decided by just a few thousand voters.

The AV Redistricting Control Project is coordinating and supporting independent progressive and Democratic campaigns in crucial states where the power over redistricting will be determined in the 2010 elections.”

What states are they focusing on? The very same states that have reported massive amounts of ACORN-like voter registration fraud.

Reports from around the country have come in about TexasPennsylvaniaMichigan, and Florida. Things have been relatively quiet in Ohio and this should raise the alarm bells because the America Votes website says that Ohio is top priority. Maybe having the Soros funded Jennifer Brunner as Secretary of State helps.

America Votes encourages its members by pointing out how even a few small victories in key districts will aid the Democrats.

The website even contains a handy video that breaks down the project.

Harris County, Texas contains one-third the population for the state, and Sheila Jackson Lee’s district has been targeted just like this one from Ohio.

Where does Texas fit in? Why would Democrats go to such lengths as to file 59  unsubstantiated complaints against a citizens group that uncovered fraud? Review the screen shots below.

Redistricting-inspired Voter Fraud Afoot

And let’s not forget Maria Isabel:

“You may have read that there is strong evidence of voter fraud in Houston. Here’s what you may not have heard: the organization accused of shady behavior is linked to a former head of an Obama campaign office. She is a fan of Che Guevara. She is also the person who invited to a town hall meeting a woman who then posed as a doctor at that meeting during the health care debate.”

If Houston Votes worked with Obama for America in 2007-2008 and given Houston Votes founder Fred Lewis and his prior partnerships with ACORN, a partnership with America Votes seems more than likely.

Time to face facts: the Left have always had a way of outsmarting the Right with ballot initiatives, catchy slogans and long term goals of world domination. America needs to wake up and stop counting on what could be an empty victory. The only way to defeat tyranny is to stand up and confront it. Every American should stand behind and support True the Vote in its quest,  and to start investigating fraud in his or her state. Citizen Action.

ACORN’s Insidious Work Continues

With less than one week left before one of the most important mid-term elections in America’s history, a certain party has once again decided to throw out the rule of law.

Dr. Melissa Clouthier explains.

“Republicans don’t run fraudulent election operations. Democrats do. It’s systemic.

Entering this election cycle is a group, True The Vote, who decided to do what they could to keep Houston elections clean and fair. They are not looking to influence the outcome. They’re looking to influence the process. That is, they want an idealistic vision fulfilled: a lawful, clean, fair and fraud-free election.

True the Vote is getting results…

The problem, it seems, is that the Democrats don’t care that it’s their organizations responsible for this and then, the Justice Department, which turns out to be a highly politicized and racist organization these days won’t prosecute.

So systemic fraud goes unchecked, and tacitly approved. And what is particularly galling is that those who risk exposing the fraud are then accused of racism and then sued. The criminals, in a sense, count on not being examined because the charge of racism is so toxic–especially to conservatives.

But we know this fraud exists Democrat-wide and it’s not a black phenomenon. Blacks just happen to be overwhelmingly Democrat.”

Houston Votes has been grandstanding since the accusations of fraud were leveled against them in a document released to the public.

Houston Votes, which pays staff to collect voter registrations from citizens has turned in 25,640 registrations generating 7,193 new registered voters and resulting in 3,531 applications which were rejected because either Texas Drivers License numbers and/or Social Security numbers did not match. Houston Votes has also generated 129 felon rejection of applications and submitted 1,133 applications where the No ID box was checked and turned in 1,323 applications after the 5 day statutory deadline.”

While the group has been accused of ACORN-style voter registration fraud, it does not have any direct links to ACORN.  But State Representative Kirsten Thibaut does have strong ties to ACORN in her past and does sit on the advisory board of Texans Together Educational Fund, the parent organization of Houston Votes.

However, most will argue that Thibaut’s past associations have little do with her current position. Or do they? Meet Fred Lewis.

“The ethics reform lobbyist and campaign finance lawyer has launched a new nonpartisan voter registration drive that targets what he calculates are the 600,000 unregistered adult citizens there out of about 2.3 million who are eligible to vote. His team wants to sign up 100,000 of them — all in time for the November election. He sat down with the Tribune last week to talk about the project, Houston Votes 2010, which he hopes will get at least 50,000 new people to the polls.

Part of what makes Lewis believe he can meet that ambitious goal is the success of a similar effort administered in 2008 by the Texans Together Education Fund, a grassroots community outreach program that he founded. It registered 24,000 low-income residents, 65 percent of whom actually cast a ballot.”

Lewis has been described as a community organizer and has established a number of non-profits over the years. In the spirit of ACORN’s Wade Rathke, Lewis’s ventures appear to be all interrelated supporting organizations. One of those organizations is Campaigns for People. Lewis focused on campaign finance reform and used the same “corporate money” argument that Houston Votes has used against True the Vote.

“Our No. 1 enemy is cynicism,” said Fred Lewis of Campaigns for People Monday morning, as he unveiled a new TV ad designed by the CFP to “drive people to our Web site” – www.cleanuptexaspolitics.com – and encourage them to get involved in organizing for campaign finance reform. The 30-second ad features a cigar-smoking representative of the “big-money boys” delivering a contribution worth “a year’s worth of wages” for most of us, and a fleeting vision of headlines announcing “the indictments coming down.”

Who directly supported the work of Campaigns for People? Why Kristi Thibaut’s Texas ACORN. Click pictures to enlarge.

This is what the Campaigns for People’s site looks like today.

Someone went through a lot of trouble to hide their tracks and even the Clean Up Texas Politics site has been scrubbed.

Lewis is also an active board member with Texas Impact. A group that held Townhall meetings with ACORN as late as 2008.

Lewis and Texas Impact also worked directly with ACORN on health care.

As this reporter has stated in many speeches, the white liberals behind ACORN are all to willing to use blacks and other minorities as pawns in their political power games. It appears that the same groups from 2004, 2006, and 2008 are now registering voters under a different name and hiring their old friends as “advisors.”

The King Street Patriots and True the Vote have uncovered the covert actions of ACORN and the Democrats -with the backing of the Obama administration – and are poised to destroy them.

All eyes should be on Houston. If Democrats succeed in a state like Texas, ACORN will be registering 10 year old’s next year in red states around the country. Tomorrow, a part two will examine the key players and their motivations in more detail.

Introducing the Voter Fraud app

Across the country, states like Nevada, Texas, Colorado, Missouri and Arizona have begun to report issues regarding possible voter fraud in their state. With claims of voter fraud continuing to come in, American Majority Action announced today it will launch the nation’s best mobile application to help identify, report and track suspected incidents of voter fraud and intimidation.  This free, cutting edge system will enable voters for the first time to take action to help defend their right to vote.

By capitalizing on this Country’s greatest resource, its citizens, AMA plans to empower ordinary Americans with the tools to help protect our electoral system.

“Our right to vote is precious and must be protected,” states Drew Ryun, president of American Majority Action (AMA), a national issue advocacy group and sister organization to American Majority, the nation’s leading grassroots training organization. “This application uses mobile technology for the first time to give voters the power to defend democracy and help address the problems that all too often cast doubt on the credibility of our elections.”

With the eyes of the nation on the polls, the app, which launches today, could be what some activist circles are calling the “game-changer.” Voters can download the free application at http://VoterFraudApp.com. The platform is already available for iPhones, the Droid, and Blackberry. In addition, users can submit reports directly from the website and even track reports on an interactive map.

Americans deserve a free and fair electoral process and must have an avenue to properly address their concerns. Unfortunately, there are some who wish to corrupt the process as seen in Minnesota.

“Thirty-four more people will be charged with voter fraud in Hennepin County in the 2008 election, County Attorney Mike Freeman announced Tuesday, bringing the total cases of alleged abuse to 47 for that election year.

Freeman’s office announced the decision a week after the county sheriff announced voting-related charges against seven people, most of whom are accused of registering to vote while ineligible…

All of the alleged fraudulent voting occurred in Hennepin County, which had 665,000 ballots cast in 2008.”

American Majority Action provides citizens with direct democracy and the press release describes the process:

“When a voter experiences a potential incident of voter fraud or intimidation, they can simply open the Voter Fraud application and submit a report using the Report an Issue button on the home screen. The application automatically opens the phone’s camera, providing the user with a quick and easy way to document the incident. Once the user is satisfied with any photographic evidence, they are prompted to fill out a brief report, providing important details and location of the possible incident.

Using the geo-tagging features available in today’s smart phones, the Voter Fraud application anonymously transmits the coordinates of each report to the VoterFraudApp.com website, making it easy to map areas of abuse in real-time across the country. The application will work with the VoterFraudApp.com website to overlay these reports on a nationwide map throughout Election Day. For the first time ever, elections officials will have the ability to track and respond to complaints as they occur. In addition, the website will house a web-based form so voters may submit reports from their desktops if they do not own a compatible mobile device.”

Every election cycle, accusations of fraud are recorded, but if information is received after the election, those votes have been counted, and it may be too late. By working directly to submit REAL TIME reports the app users have the power to effect real change. This will make it harder for groups like ACORN or those with partisan interests to operate.

In recent years, in state after state, the basic integrity of the electoral system has been undermined by an organized effort to weaken the system. Efforts to reform have been met with ridicule and charges of racism, but the past two years have shown that simple citizen action can turn the tide. Technology has allowed citizens to enter a brave new world in regards to direct action, and this election cycle is only the beginning.

Uncle Sam Funds ACORN Poll Workers, but Tea Party Group Investigated

What happens when citizens decide to stand up and ensure the integrity of elections? In the age of Obama, they are investigated by the Department of Justice.

From the Washington Examiner:

“Obama’s Department of Justice has suddenly turned on a dime, becoming the great pro-active protector of voters’ rights:

‘Poll watchers in Harris County, Texas — where a Tea Party group launched an aggressive anti-voter fraud effort — were accused of “hovering over” voters, ‘getting into election workers’ faces’ and blocking or disrupting lines of voters who were waiting to cast their ballots as early voting got underway yesterday.

Now, TPMMuckraker has learned, the Justice Department has interviewed witnesses about the alleged intimidation and is gathering information about the so-called anti-voter fraud effort….

Terry O’Rourke, the first assistant in the Harris County Attorney’s office, told TPMMuckraker that there have been allegations of poll watchers talking to voters, which they are not allowed to do, as well as hovering over voters as they are waiting to vote. He said the complaints came from Kashmere Gardens, Moody Park, Sunnyside and other predominantly minority neighborhoods of the county.’

…Obama’s politicized Justice Department has already lost all credibility when it comes to even-handed administration of justice on this matter. They let the Black Panthers off with one wrist-slap and two complete dismissals after their flagrant voter intimidation was caught on tape. Now they’re worried about poll watchers “talking to voters,” at a time when local Texas officials are preventing people from voting if they are wearing Gadsden Flag pins?”

An interesting fact about this so-called investigation, is the group, True to Vote, had already contacted the DOJ regarding the extreme irregularities related to the voter registration drives in the state. Click to enlarge.

DOJ whistle blower J. Christian Adams writes:

“True the Vote has hundreds of volunteers committed to promoting electoral integrity. They are ready to assist the Department of Justice and Texas election officials by uncovering instances of fraud in registration and voting. True the Vote has undertaken a comprehensive electoral integrity campaign in Harris County, Texas. Their mission is to promote electoral integrity in both the registration process as well as during elections.

They recognize that government agencies like yours have limited resources and cannot always dedicate the requisite attention to investigations. Their hope is that if and when they discover problems with the integrity of the electoral process, government agencies with oversight will undertake an appropriate inquiry.

Because True the Vote has discovered a variety of violations of federal law in Harris County, Texas, within the Department’s jurisdiction, they are referring a number of the matters to the Department of Justice

Because the Department has civil oversight of the Help America Vote Act, and criminal oversight of non-citizen participation in federal elections, I presume that the results of this secondary inquiry will be of great interest. In the meantime, I believe there is sufficient evidence to open an investigation into whether or not non-citizens are being improperly registered to vote in Harris County. As you know, the Department has conducted extensive litigation throughout Texas to enforce Section 203 of the Voting Rights Act. My client would urge you to consider tackling problems of registration fraud there with similar zeal.”

Adams includes a number of exhibits with the letter to illustrate possible voter fraud. Among the findings of True the Vote are:

Persons claiming to be noncitizens have been registered to vote in Harris County.

Voters Registered Multiple Times

Application 1

Application 2

A recurring theme of the Obama administration has been corruption. Instead of praise for being responsible citizens, True The Vote has been sued, harassed, and accused of voter intimidation.

“Mediaite’s Tommy Christopher reports voter intimidation in Harris County, Texas (Houston) by volunteer poll watchers trained by King Street Patriots, a local non-partisan group who started theTrue The Vote campaignTommy leads with this inflammatory paragraph saying:

‘In a story that’s sure to draw comparisons to the New Black Panther Party member who brandished a nightstick at a Philadelphia polling place in 2008, a Tea Party group called the King Street Patriots has been accused of ’1960s style’ voter intimidation in primarily minority precincts on the first day of early voting in Texas. The group is being sued by the Texas Democratic Party, following the filing of 14 voter intimidation complaints with the county clerk, and another two dozen with the Texas Democratic Party chairman.’

Catherine Engelbrecht, founder of King’s Street Patriots strongly denies the allegations and noted that it was absurd that ‘little old ladies’ would be intimidating anyone. She says that one 65 year old woman poll watcher came back from poll watching, after being kicked out for simply being present–itself a violation of the law–in tears…

In one instance, three poll watchers were yelled at by a Democrat Harris County Commissioner El Franco Lee who said,’Why are you here? We have never had poll watchers here. Ya’ll need to get on out of here.’

Lee then demanded that the polling place judge give him information about the three poll watchers and the presiding judge complied–giving him their private information. The three poll watchers now fear for their safety and wonder what will be done with their personal information which included their phone numbers and home addresses.”

The actions described by the poll watchers indicate that the Democrats are getting desperate. Articles by media outlets on the left claim voter intimidation, simply because ordinary citizens have decided to become active participants in our electoral process. In the tradition of ACORN-style intimidation tactics by the left, can those poor citizens expect to be targeted at their homes? Democrats only want poll workers who are trained by ACORN using tax dollars.

In 2006, the Election Assistance Commission gave a grant to ACORN’s Project Vote to recruit college students for poll worker training. Click Pictures to enlarge.

Not only does Project Vote have a history of engaging in election season shenanigans with ACORN, involving thousands of duplicate registrations, but the group’s reporting on the grant is pure fiction. In a 2007 email, Nathan Henderson-James of ACORN Political Operations advises staff on how to “make it look good” regarding the money given to tax exempt Project Vote and used by ACORN. Click Pictures to enlarge.

It is equally disturbing that the grant in question is part of the Help America Vote College Program, administered by the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC), a federal agency established by Congress in 2002 to provide assistance to states in the administration of federal elections. According to its website, since 2004, the EAC has awarded 72 grants worth a total of $2.4 million to recruit and train college poll workers. How much of that 2.4 million went to ACORN?

To be clear, according to Democrats and folks at the DOJ, ordinary citizens who want to ensure fair elections are not welcome at polling places without being accused of voter intimidation but ACORN receives tax dollars to train college students. With ACORN’s history of partisan and aggressive activity, I wonder if they would have qualified without Project Vote’s tax status and reputation.

Will the DOJ silence the efforts of True the Vote or help them expose fraudulent voter registration drives? Will Democrats succeed in painting ordinary citizens as racists? As the election draws nearer, every American should be asking themselves these questions. If citizens are not allowed to expose corruption and fully participate in the electoral process our votes will be diluted by those with partisan political intentions. It’s up to all of us to stand with True the Vote and demand an investigation into the voter fraud in Texas.

The Problem with Same Day Voter Registration

Every few years it seems the Democrats find a new way to “improve” the voting system without allowing any changes to actually protect the system. These ideas usually center around “fairness” and minorities. As noted previously, Democrats will stop at nothing to protect their base, leaving quite a few states to become “testing grounds” for their social experiments.

This election year all eyes should be on Wisconsin. Voter registration groups like Project Vote/Voting for America, SEIU, and ACORN have caused considerable chaos in previous election cycles. Last week an ACORN employee pleaded guilty to felony vote fraud.

“According to the criminal complaint, Clancy served as a Special Registration Deputy (“SRD”) for the City of Milwaukee in advance of the 2008 Presidential Election. He worked for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (“ACORN”).

Clancy was accused of submitting multiple voter registration applications for the same individuals, and also was part of a scheme in which he and other SRDs registered each other to vote multiple times in order to meet voter registration quotas imposed by ACORN.”

Wisconsin is a same day voter registration state and though the media will try to downplay the story, and others like it, fraudulent action by groups like ACORN and Project Vote can directly affect the outcome of an election, which is deemed voter fraud.

“Same-day Voter Registration requires the voter to complete the application and provide “proof of residence” documentation. Ballots for same-day registrants are counted in that election but the actual registration is not verified until AFTER Election Day…

For example, in the 2008 election, 62,000 voters registered on Election Day ALONE in the City of Milwaukee. How many of those registrations were actually legitimate? But all of their votes were counted in the election.”

Does any one find it odd that 62,000 had forgone any other option for registering and decided to wait until Election Day? One author explains the coming danger and points out that the GOP are unprepared for the coming battle.

“Same-day voter registration. Give it to me! I’m entitled to it! I pay taxes (probably not income taxes though)!

Easy registration and voting does not improve voter turnout. Substantial research by the London School of Economics and American University indicates that easy voting measures – same day voter registration, early voting and mail ballots – do not improve voter turnout except in certain states…

Right now registration rates exceed 80%. We will spend hundreds of millions of dollars to make registration easier for 20% of the population.

Besides the cost, what is wrong with letting the Federal government take over our election systems? I like to point out how elections work in Kazakhstan, a dictatorship faking democracy. The Constitution leaves the time and manner of elections to the states. There will be opposition to federalizing what historically has been a states’ rights issue.

A dirty little secret – most of those ten or fifteen academics in cahoots with activists who convinced everyone to junk millions of dollars worth of voting machines were disgruntled Gore supporters from 2000. As a so called voting integrity activist, an election administration coup by the Federal government should scare you more than the Supreme Court deciding an election.”

While states have the right to enact laws without federal influence, what happens when a group of corrupt elitist with unlimited funds highjack that state and use the voting process for partisan political gain? Nothing. Leftists groups have the mainstream media to provide cover for them and since groups like ACORN partner with their “friends” in academia they have a ready supply of “expert reports.”

“Election Day registration — eliminating the 30-day, pre-election deadline so people can register and vote the same day — has emerged as the most contentious issue, with some fearful of the potential for fraud. But the experience of the nine states that allow same-day registration shows no compromise to the integrity of the voting process but a boost in voter participation. Indeed, a study by the public policy group Demos found that voter turnout in the 2008 election was 7 percentage points higher in states that allowed Election Day registration than in states that prohibited the practice.”

Unfortunately, Americans cannot wait for our leaders to wake up and realize that these systems are flawed and often times lead to fraud. Election of your Secretary of State matters, and citizens must be aware of the they stand for in regards to voter ID, same day registration and even universal voter registration. Citizens also must stay current on pending legislation regarding changes to election laws. Lastly, Americans must organize for freedom to stop this all out power grab.

Democrats: Voter Fraud for Thee, but not me

Despite a tumultuous history of outright racism and an affiliation with the Klu Klux Klan, the Democratic party has laid claim to all minorities and become the so-called “champion” of the oppressed. Of course, this path requires an unlimited supply of victims and, apparently, a disregard for the law.

With less than two weeks remaining before the mid-term elections, Democrats have stepped up their concerted effort to paint the Right as racists seeking to stifle minority voters, while ignoring clear violations of established standards and practices regarding voter fraud.

“WASHINGTON (AP) — Voting rights activists said tea partiers’ efforts to obtain voter registration records could have a chilling effect on turnout, potentially undercutting Democrats and swaying the outcome of the Nov. 2 elections.

Activists on Wednesday noted that dozens of tea party-aligned groups have sought records and are planning to visit polling places on Election Day to enforce their own “voter protection” programs…

‘We are worried this year that we could see large-scale efforts to challenge voters at the polls,’ said Wendy Weiser of the Brennan Center, a nonpartisan public policy and law institute based at New York University.

Gloria Montano Greene of the National Association of Latino Elected Officials also cautioned that the persistent anti-illegal immigrant fervor could drive down turnout or unfairly target those who appear to be immigrants.

Black voters, too, are likely to face challengers, activists warned.

‘We know that we continue to face stark levels of voting discrimination around the country,’ said Kristen Clarke, co-director of the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund’s voter project.”

Stark levels of voting discrimination? In case you’re wondering, the writers are not referring to the New Black Panther Party case, but to efforts to maintain the integrity of the electoral system. Amazingly, while Democrats were sounding the alarm, First Lady Michelle Obama was in Chicago demonstrating the administration’s disregard for our electoral system.

“First lady Michelle Obama appears to have violated Illinois law — when she engaged in political discussion at a polling place!

The drama began after Mrs. Obama stopped off at the Martin Luther King Center on the south side of Chicago to cast an early vote…

After finishing at the machine, Obama went back to the desk and handed in her voting key.

She let voters including electrician Dennis Campbell, 56, take some photos.

‘She was telling me how important it was to vote to keep her husband’s agenda going,’ Campbell said.

According to a pool reporter from the CHICAGO SUN-TIMES at the scene, the conversation took place INSIDE the voting center, not far from the booths.

Illinois state law — Sec. 17-29 (a) — states: “No judge of election, pollwatcher, or other person shall, at any primary or election, do any electioneering or soliciting of votes or engage in any political discussion within any polling place [or] within 100 feet of any polling place.”

Michelle Obama’s actions are inexcusable. The Obama administration is notorious for planting seeds of division around the country and the First Lady directly appealing to a black voter inside of a polling place should cause alarm. Democrats depend upon the black vote to survive and they are not above stoking the fires of racism to incite passion among voters. There is an obvious conflict of interest among those who claim voter fraud does not exist and then push for legislation that benefits their target population. This year the black vote is even more critical.

“Energizing black voters for midterm elections has always been a challenge for Democrats. This fall the Democratic National Committee plans to spend more than $2 million in outreach ads and direct mail to black voters, more than 10 times the amount spent in 2006, said Derrick Plummer, who heads up African American affairs for the DNC…

On Wednesday, President Obama spoke on Baisden’s program, warning that low turnout could allow Republicans to take power on Capitol Hill and stymie his agenda.

“Everybody in the barbershops, the beauty shops, and at work — everybody’s got to understand: This is a huge election,” the president said.

Larry Sabato, director of the University of Virginia’s Center for Politics, agreed that black turnout would play a particularly important role at a time when the national political momentum has shifted from the “Yes We Can” crowd to the conservative “tea party” movement.

“Look, without a strong African American vote on Nov. 2, Democrats can kiss the House goodbye, and maybe the Senate, too,” Sabato said. “It’s just that critical.

The black vote is so critical that Michelle Obama is campaigning inside polling places and even the White House has defended her actions by trying to make light of the situation.

A top Illinois State Board of Elections official tells the DRUDGE REPORT that Mrs. Obama — a Harvard-educated lawyer — may have simply been ignorant of the law and thus violated it unintentionally.

‘You kind of have to drop the standard for the first lady, right?’ the official explained late Thursday. “I mean, she’s pretty well liked and probably doesn’t know what she’s doing.”

WHITE HOUSE DEFENDS ELECTIONEERING

When questioned about the brazen nature of Mrs. Obama’s campaigning, press secretary Robert Gibbs defended the action.

‘I don’t think it would be much to imagine, the First Lady might support her husband’s agenda,’ Gibbs smiled.

Considering the First Lady’s crusade against fat, her garden and the carefully crafted image presented to the public, it’s hard to imagine that she is not aware of the law. Democrats routinely attack Republicans for minor mistakes regarding voter and voting fraud. Ann Coulter and Illinois Congressman Mark Kirk are among the recent targets.

“One of the biggest stories in Illinois right now (bigger than Rahm Emanuel’s every move and thought) is how Congressman Mark Kirk, running for President Obama’s former senate seat, was unknowingly caught on tape telling state Republican leaders that he is funding “the largest voter integrity program in fifteen years for the state of Illinois.” The plan, he explained, is to place election monitors in certain precincts that are, according to Kirk, especially susceptible to voter fraud. Those precincts are in places like the Southside of Chicago and the Westside of Chicago–i.e., areas that happen to be composed mainly of Democratic and African American voters unlikely to vote for Kirk.

The Kirk Campaign has defended the program, saying it has nothing to do with race and is merely an effort to cut down on ‘…voter fraud that is well-known in Illinois….’ It’s nothing you haven’t heard from the Republicans and their allies before; accusations of voter fraud, particularly in minority-heavy districts, have been rampant ever since Obama seemed poised to win the presidency in 2008* and continue to proliferate now. But what you may not have heard is that the type of election stealing that conservatives claim to be stopping seems to be exceedingly rare”

Voter fraud in Chicago? Never. Congressman Kirk must be a racist. Sarcasm aside, a pattern begins to emerge among those claiming that voter fraud does not exist. Most of those groups are tied to ACORN. The article below quotes two partners of ACORN’s Project Vote to prove the claim that Kirk’s actions are racially motivated. Please also note the disclaimer.

“A few years ago the Brennan Center for Justice, at New York University, undertook an exhaustive analysis of voter fraud allegations–everything from reports that people were voting twice to stories of dead people casting ballots. The vast majority of allegations turned out to be baseless and, in a 2007 report, the Center’s Justin Levin wrote that “It’s more likely that an individual will be struck by lightning than that he will impersonate another voter at the polls.” More recently, in a 2010 book called The Myth of Voter Fraud, Barnard political science professor Lorraine Minnite did her own analysis based on state government records. She reached the same conclusion. According toMinnite, between 2002 and 2005 there was only one case of voter registration fraud and five cases of people voting twice. That’s a total of six cases within a three year span.

That’s not to say election stealing never takes place: As the blogger Archpundit notes, there have been documented cases of absentee ballot fraud and phone jamming to interfere with get-out-the-vote efforts, just to name two. But Kirk’s “integrity” campaign won’t deter that sort of trickery. The only thing it will deter is turnout in communities likely to reject Kirk.

Gee, could that be the whole idea?

*Disclaimer: My father is a lawyer with a nonprofit that worked with ACORN, which has been the target of a lot of voter fraud claims.

A quick Google search returns numerous articles that try to convince the reader that voter fraud does not exist. Of course, many of those articles also cite the far left Brennan Center for Justice, an organization that has partnered with ACORN and Project Vote on countless lawsuits. The ACORN connection should give anyone pause, especially considering that the most egregious cases of voter registration fraud have been committed by ACORN employees.

As DOJ Whistle blower J. Christian Adams points out, Michelle Obama’s actions are systematic of the larger problem plaguing this administration and the Democrats.

“What does a ban on electioneering have to do with election integrity? It prevents people from being bothered, coerced, or badgered. A blanket ban on electioneering in the polls prevents both what happened in Chicago today and the thuggery that characterized elections throughout our history. Michelle Obama should step up and admit a mistake, and talk about the importance of laws ensuring election integrity. To do otherwise tells us what we need to know how much they respect election integrity safeguards.”

More disturbing is the fact that lawlessness committed by the Democrats has become so common that even the White House laughs it off. How can a republic have free and fair elections when all activities aimed at improving or protecting the system are labeled “voter suppression” or “voter intimidation.”

One can not ignore America’s civil rights history, but among the freedoms that many fought and died for was the right to vote. To dilute that vote with organized voter registration fraud and high level shenanigans.

“A four-year wave of attacks on voter registration drives, both in terms of state laws that either shut down voter registration drives or made it too onerous to do it, and other public attacks have certainly had an effect,” said Wendy Weiser, director of the Brennan Center’s Voting Rights and Elections Project.

And while voter registration drives have languished, state governments aren’t picking up the slack. Voting rights advocates argue that many states aren’t adequately complying with requirements in the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 to register voters automatically at state agencies and keep their addresses up to date when they move. The result is a gaping hole in the country’s voter registration efforts that threatens to undo the positive strides that have been made over the last decade and a half.

The most obvious cause for the decline in voter registration is the shuttering of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN. At its height, ACORN had a budget of close to $35 million and was credited with registering approximately half a million voters in 2008 alone.

The article fails to mention that ACORN and Project Vote turned in almost a million cards in 2008 and yet only half were valid voter registrations.

As Democrats try to once again change the debate over voter fraud, it is up to ordinary citizens to protect our voting systems. However, the deck seems to be stacked against Republicans and others on the right.

When did it become okay to commit voter fraud when your party designation is Democrat? How long will courts and secretaries of state allow laws that only benefit the Democrats and their quest to maintain the coveted black vote?

Below are examples of real voter fraud. Voter registration fraud harms everyone and can dilute or suppress real votes.

North Carolina — State Board of Elections officials have found at least 100 voter registration forms with the same names over and over again. The forms were turned in by ACORN. Officials sent about 30 applications to the state Board of Elections for possible fraud investigation.

Ohio — The New York Post reported that a Cleveland man said he was given cash and cigarettes by aggressive ACORN activists in exchange for registering an astonishing 72 times. The complaints have sparked an investigation by election officials into the organization, whose political wing has supported Barack Obama. Witnesses have already been subpoenaed to testify against the organization.

Nevada — Authorities raided the headquarters of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now on Tuesday October 7, 2008, after a month-long investigation. The fraudulent voter registrations included the Dallas Cowboys starting line-up.

Indiana — More than 2,000 voter registration forms filed in northern Indiana’s Lake County filled out by ACORN employees turned out to be bogus. Officials also stopped processing a stack of about 5,000 applications delivered just before the October 6 registration deadline after the first 2,100 turned out to be phony.

Connecticut — Officials are looking into a complaint alleging ACORN submitted fraudulent voter registration cards in Bridgeport. In one instance, an official said a card was filled out for a 7-year-old girl, whose age was listed as 27. 8,000 cards were submitted in Bridgeport.

Missouri — The Kansas City election board is reporting 100 duplicate applications and 280 with fake information. Acorn officials agreed that at least 4% of their registrations were bogus. Governor Matt Bluntcondemned the attempts by ACORN to commit voter fraud.

Pennsylvania — Officials are investigating suspicious or incomplete registration forms submittedby ACORN. 252,595 voter registrations were submitted in Philadelphia. Remarkably, 57,435 were rejected — most of them submitted by ACORN.

Wisconsin — In Milwaukee, ACORN improperly used felons as registration workers. Additionally, its workers are among 49 cases of bad registrations sent to authorities for possible charges, as first reported by the Journal Sentinel.

Florida — The Pinellas County Elections supervisor says his office has received around 35 voter registrations that appear to be bogus. There is also a question of 30,000 felons who are registered illegally to vote. Their connections with ACORN are not yet clear.

Texas — Of the 30,000 registration cards ACORN turned in, Harris County tax assessor PaulBettencourt says just more than 20,000 are valid. More than 250 people claim a homeless outreach center as their home address. Some listed a county mental health facility as their home and one person even wrote down the Harris County jail at the sheriff’s office.

Michigan — ACORN in Detroit is being investigated after several municipal clerks reported fraudulent and duplicate voter registration applications coming through. The clerk interviewed said the fraud appears to be widespread.

New Mexico – The Bernalillo County clerk has notified prosecutors that some 1,100 fraudulent voter registration cards were turned in by ACORN.

Obama’s Project Vote pushes bigger government and demonizes Tea Party Movement, Washington Post follows its lead

This past weekend, Americans from across the country gathered in Richmond, V.A. for the Virginia Tea Party Patriot Convention. Attracting conservative leaders and activists alike, the gathering featured training from a number of organizations including American Majority.

However, many participants may have been unaware of the quiet smear campaign that has been spreading for weeks by Obama’s old employer, Project Vote.

As what is purported to be one of the largest Tea Party gatherings in Virginia gets underway in Richmond this weekend, a new poll clearly shows that Tea Party sympathizers hold minority views on most issues regarding government, government spending, and the budget.

What Happened to Hope and Change? A Poll of 2008 Voters was conduced by nonpartisan voting rights group Project Vote, surveying 1,947 randomly selected Americans who cast ballots in 2008. The poll is unique in that it not only surveys the historic 2008 electorate as a whole, but also includes special samples of black voters, low-income voters, and youth voters, and compares these groups to self-identified Tea Party sympathizers.”

The press release clearly attempts to characterize the convention as a “whites only” event for  angry Tea Partiers to complain.

“Contrary to the claims made by event organizers that the Tea Party frustrations are shared by a wide cross section of America, the results of the new poll show that Tea Party sympathizers — who are overwhelmingly likely to be white, older, and more affluent — are out of touch with the views of both average Americans and the surge voting groups who so decisively increased their participation in 2008.

‘Black voters, low-income voters, and youth voters together represent roughly a third of the electorate, and they will play an increasingly important role in American politics in the years to come,’ says Project Vote’s executive director Michael Slater. ‘Yet over the past two years the opinions and values of these populations have been drowned out by the anti-government rhetoric of more affluent, older, and mostly white Americans who have organized under the Tea Party banner.’”

Project Vote’s report was released in mid-September to much fanfare and liberal media attention. A conference call was planned,  and among the featured participants was Frances Fox Piven. Piven is a professor of Political Science and Sociology at the City University of New York. Piven and her husband Richard Cloward are the same socialists responsible for the Cloward-Piven Strategy.

This reporter listened in on the conference call as elitist liberal whites claimed to understand the concerns of “real” voters, the blacks,  and other minorities Project Vote used for this “study.” Piven was praised for her insight and her socialist connections were never mentioned. During a brief question and answer session, one caller expressed some dismay about the availability of the information that Project Vote had accessed. This comment was laughed off by Project Vote’s Michael Slater.

Sensing an opportunity, I inquired as to how Project Vote had obtained the information of all those voters. Micheal Slater had admitted that some of it was public information, but the rest? Slater refused to answer a directly if the list had been obtained through officials connected with Obama’s administration or his campaign. The call was quickly ended and all callers placed in a conference or holding status.

Project Vote uses the tried and true standard of the Left: instigating racial animosity. According to the report, a minority of whites are controlling the national debate and silencing the true majority, progressive and liberal blacks and Latinos. Among their findings:

“Together, the three “surge” groups represent a larger portion of the electorate than those who self-identify with the Tea Party. Project Vote’s analysis reveals that black voters, low-income voters, and young voters have starkly different views about the role of government, federal spending priorities, and the budget deficit than Tea Party sympathizers, and in fact are far closer to the views of the 2008 electorate as a whole. Key findings include:

  • Nine in ten Tea Party sympathizers are white; they are predominantly older, more affluent, and more conservative. Their views on the role of government and government spending are not only starkly different from black voters, young voters, and low-income voters, but from the majority view of a representative sample of all 2008 voters.
  • Tea Party sympathizers, while almost universally dissatisfied with the way the country is going, report they themselves are doing very well: more than three out of four say their personal economic situation is fairly good or very good. 76% are married; 78% went to college; 84% are working or retired.

  • Majorities of black voters, young voters, and low-income voters, as well as a majority of all voters, support spending the same or more on income support programs such as Food Stamps for less well-off Americans. Two-thirds of Tea Party sympathizers support spending less.
  • Strong majorities of black voters, young voters, and low-income voters agree that government should work to provide for the needs of all citizens. Half of all voters agreed with that sentiment, while only one in five Tea Party sympathizers agreed.

Democrats, like the Chair of the South Carolina Democrat Party, are taking these “findings” to heart:

“These studies found that young and minority voters will be a key factor in the midterm elections.

According to Project Vote, the policy preferences of African-American, low-income and young voters are more closely aligned with the mainstream than with the far right and the tea party.

This segment of the electorate turned out in record numbers in 2008. I believe they will turn out again to support candidates who can put partisanship aside and turn our state around. They are tired of Republican hypocrisy and ready to move South Carolina forward with Democrats”

Project Vote and ACORN have a great deal of help from the media who are always willing to carry water for the group. Lefty blog sites like the Raw Story couldn’t resist jumping on the story with a racially charged headline, an obligatory attack on Fox News, vulgar references, and ending with pinning the blame on Bush:

“The findings seem to indicate that corporate networks like Fox News have largely ignored majority views in America, instead dedicating large amounts of time to covering the wealthy, vocal tea party minority.

‘Analysis of the findings from around the net also underscores what we’ve long argued,’ blogger Brad Friedman opined. “[The] Tea Baggers don’t actually give a damn about ‘the deficit’ or even the Constitution. If they did, they wouldn’t have waited until after Republicans lost the elections in 2008 to start marching and decrying the deficit explosion (and supposed concerns about Constitutional rights) brought about under the previous Administration.”

The liberal bloggers are not the only one demonizing the Tea Party movement. Over at The Nation, a writer laments about Obama’s “forgotten base” and paints the Tea Partiers as pessimistic when compared to this courageous and put-upon demographic.

“We’ve all spent so much time dwelling on the slights and accusations of the Fox News crowd, there’s been shockingly little attention paid to the views, frustrations and convictions of what we might call the forgotten electorate, otherwise known as Obama’s base.

“Which is why a new poll from Project Vote of 2008 voters is such a refreshing corrective. According to the poll, Tea Party sympathizers constitute 29 percent of 2008 voters, while black voters, those under 30 and those making less than $30,000 a year together make up 32 percent….

That is the tragic and perilous irony of this political moment: the people with the most faith in the president and the Democratic Party are the hardest hit by the continuing economic disaster; it’s this brute fact that’s driving the so-called enthusiasm gap between liberals and conservatives.”

The fact is most Americans understand the liberal slant of the media and tend to overlook such attacks. The report published by ACORN “affiliate” Project Vote started off as a quiet murmur among bloggers, but the message was clear. It’s time to paint ordinary Americans as selfish, angry and out of touch with reality. By inciting racial and class divisions Project Vote uses a classic Alinsky technique, marginalizing the enemy.

For a long time, the Left was unable to address the issues of the Tea Party and thus resorted to name calling and derision. When that tactic failed, the liberal elitists at Project Vote – presumably with the encouragement or help of Piven – decided to change the dialogue.

The Washington Post was careful not to be seen endorsing the ACORN-tainted story, but was quick to produce one of its own, as evidenced by Project Vote’s “victory” blog posting.

“Yesterday the Post reported that their own new survey finds—as Project Vote’s poll did—that there is strong support for government programs that provide a social safety net and protect ordinary people from the predations of the market.  Although Republicans, and many Democrats, have tried to demonize Washington,’ write Jon Cohen and Dan Balz, ‘they must contend with the fact that most major government programs remain enormously popular…’

According to the Post/Kaiser Family Foundation/Harvard University poll, large majorities among the public say that Medicare (96 percent), Social Security (95 percent), food stamps (82 percent), federal aid to public schools (91 percent), unemployment benefits (91 percent) and environmental protection (89 percent) are important government programs.”

You can bet that in a few days this story will be accepted as fact and repeated by the likes of Rachel Maddow. However, the biggest danger is in how ACORN/Project Vote has decided to frame the message. Acting as agent of misinformation, Project Vote tries to pretend that the mainstream media has been anything but a willing helper in pushing Obama’s unwanted agenda.

“But it has been a difficult story to convince the media to tell. For more than a year now, the media’s fascination with an apparently ‘angry’ public rising up against alleged government tyranny has seemingly taken priority over the first principles of responsible (objective) journalism. The spectacle of older white people dressing up in Revolutionary War garb and railing against  ‘Obamacare,’  has held many in the mainstream media hostage to their own prejudices. And the herd mentality of our modern, 24-hour news cycle has only made things worse.

By locking in the distorted-but-dominant media frame on the Tea Party as representative of the electorate, the skepticism we expect from good journalism has been locked out. As a result, the mainstream media has not just reported or investigated the news: in beating the drum, it has unwittingly emerged as a vital supporting player, playing in the rise of the Tea Party movement itself.’

That said, we are encouraged by the Washington Post’s initiative in digging beneath the surface of apparent voter anger to independently confirm our findings about attitudes toward government.

The preceding statement will rankle any American who has witnessed the distorted reports, downplayed crowd sizes and hostility towards the Tea Party movement. Project Vote actually credits the mainstream media with the rise of the movement. Their statements are an insult to those who have labored tirelessly for the cause.

In the days leading up to November 2nd, groups like ACORN and Project Vote hope to tap into the well of racial discontent and class warfare to once again divide this country for their own political goals. And, as usual, will be aided by the mainstream media.

RNC Clueless on the Democrat Voter Turnout Strategy

Late last month when the RNC announced that it would cut its get out the vote (GOTV) program, conservative groups around the country adjusted and decided to run their own GOTV programs. But what does the RNC’s decision really mean?

“The Republican National Committee has decided against sending Congressional staffers out on the campaign trail for traditional get-out-the-vote efforts, focusing its resources instead on mailings and other last-minute pre-election efforts, the committee confirmed Tuesday.”

Lately, it seems the RNC has gone the way of the Obama administration in ignoring the will of the people. With serious missteps in key races and a national morale problem, the RNC really doesn’t get it.

Dana Loesch reports that after a few posts on Twitter that the RNC responded:

“Shortly thereafter I got an email from RNC spokesman Doug Heye about the matter asking me to call him…

In light of the recent criticisms against the RNC, with the Hawaii conference, Steele’s cross-country tour, I can see why the RNC would want to rectify an ineffective and expensive program to ward off further accusations of wasteful spending – so long as the money saved stays with their GOTV efforts, which Heye explained that it would.

Heye discussed the RNC’s other GOTV efforts.

‘We have 352 victory offices funded by us throughout country. We’ve crossed the 20 million contact threshold – contact in messages left, door knocks, phone calls. We’re ahead of where we were in 2008 and in the next five weeks we’ll have a minimum of two million more contacts.’”

Does the RNC only read the New York Times? Have they paid attention to the countless articles by conservative journalists, bloggers and organizational leaders? GOTV is key the winning an election. A copy of the “proprietary and confidential” “After Action” report from the data company used by the DNC, ACORN, SEIU, Obama for America/Organizing for America contains startling facts and figures that need viral attention fast.

The Background

As previously reported:

“The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now or ACORN spent a number of years perfecting an organizing model that resembled that of Catalist and the Obama Campaign. ACORN’s close ‘affiliate’ Project Vote detailed their efforts in a 2007 report:

‘The Pilot Technology Project carried out during the summer and fall of 2006 was a first attempt to integrate the potential of high quality enhanced data developed for voter participation programs with on-going grassroots community organizing programs. Building upon the work of Catalist (formerly Data Warehouse LLC), Project Vote deployed an updated version of our online voter management system (VBASE) to enable local community organizations to access a robust voter file with enhanced phone numbers, geographic and demographic information for use in voter mobilization, membership development and organizational capacity building.’”

In 2008, years of coordination between leftist groups like SEIU, ACORN, Emily’s List and Obama/Organizing for America, resulted in a turbo charged election cycle unlike any other.

“Get-out-the-vote operations mounted by the Obama campaign, the Democratic Party and progressive organizations mobilized more than one million dedicated volunteers on Election Day. But it was buttressed by a year-long, psychographic voter targeting and contact operation, the likes of which Democrats had never before participated in. In 2008, the principal repository of Democratic data was Catalist, a for-profit company that acted as the conductor for a data-driven symphony of more than 90 liberal groups, like the Service Employees Union — and the DNC — and the Obama campaign.”

While The Atlantic reported on the story, many on the Right may not understand the total impact of the body of work from these so-called progressives.

A look at the Numbers

According to the report:

  • Progressives completed over 127 million contacts to over 49 million unique individuals. Of these individuals, 28 million voted on Election Day, representing over 20% of all votes cast
  • Progressives attempted to contact over 106 million people, meaning that over 46% of the U.S. adult population were targets of communication from the progressive community.
  • 82% of progressive activities occurred in 16 highly contested states. Individuals contacted by progressives accounted for 37%6 of all votes cast in these states.

The dialogue during the 2008 election cycle was one of change and blaming the outgoing administration for America’s troubles. This message was not only reinforced by the media, but also with a barrage of emails, calls, visits, etc. from progressive organizers in the weeks before the election. Obama’s margin of victory was born out of these contacts.

“The number of votes cast by new voters who were registered by progressives exceeded Obama’s margin of victory in four states: OH, FL, IN, and NC. “

Voter Registrations

The massive voter registration drives that many were made aware of in 2008 generated over 7 million new applications with the report stating that at least 76% from groups not directly affiliated with a candidate or campaign. The report also notes that only about 5.5 million made it onto the voter rolls. The left calls them “true registrations.” What about this other two million cards? Duplicates? Fraudulent registrations? Ineligible voters? While the left tends the downplay voter registration fraud, the type of activities that garner over two million bogus registrations should be investigated.

Get Out The Vote

Progressive groups have proven to be ahead of the curve in regards to voter contact and the numbers show that their efforts pay off at the polls. According to Catalist:

“ Among all sporadic voters (which include Democrats, Independents, and Republicans), progressive contact is correlated with a 10-point increase in turnout. Among just Democratic sporadic voters, progressive contact shows an 11-point difference.”

RNC are you listening? Face-to-face contact, not paid media or mailings resulted in at least a 10-point increase in turnout.

The Usual Suspects

Though Service Employees International Union (SEIU) is now under investigation regarding a pension scandal and the activities of former leader Andy Stern, they had a banner year in 2008.  By far, Stern earned the privilege of  frequent White House visits and the president’s ear by delivering big numbers for Obama in 2008. With tens of millions of dollars invested in Obama, the SEIU ground troops worked feverishly to turn voters out to the polls.

SEIU Activity Report

  • Over 5.2 million direct contacts were made to almost 4.5 million voters.
  • 2.5 million pieces of response data was collected from over 1.2 million voters.
  • SEIU used high concentrations of live phone calls (64%) and in-person contact (24%) to target voters. In both cases, this is approximately 50% more then the average (as a percent) of all progressives.
  • In Indiana, over 40% of all independent progressive contacts (not including federal) were unique to SEIU. In Virginia, over 35% of all independent progressive contacts were unique to SEIU. SEIU also had large shares of unique contacts in other highly contested states, including New Mexico (over 30%), New Hampshire (over 15%), and Oregon and Colorado (over 10%).

The stark reality is that the left is better organized and their leadership more motivated in getting boots on the ground. With their sophisticated micro-targeting, the left is able to identify individual voters in precincts that are more likely to vote for their cause/candidate. This means that folks on the right are rarely contacted and may not be aware of the scale of these operations. By flying under the radar, the left has a guaranteed tactic to sway elections their way. Don’t allow yourselves to be blindsided this November.

Who’s working in your community? Not the RNC, but this year, like 2008, you can bet that progressive groups are on the ground spreading their message of racial divisions, big government and more spending.

Private Right of Action: A Key to Fair Elections?

The arrest of an 81 year old woman in Bexar County, Texas provides a prime example of the need for more states to implement key provisions of the National Voter Registration Act and the Help America Vote Act (HAVA).

“Bexar County deputies Monday night arrested a woman accused of using her long-dead sister’s identity to vote twice in the 2008 general election.

Mary Ann Comparin, 81, was released from Bexar County Jail on Tuesday after posting $10,000 bail, officials said. She faces one count of illegal voting…

The Texas Department of Public Safety’s image verification system matched the photo on Comparin’s driver license to the one on the “Collins” license, according to the affidavit.

The system, about five years old, routinely scans 24 million images from licenses and identification cards, and compares them using an algorithm, DPS spokeswoman Tela Mange said.”

Cue the ACLU to enter stage left and sue the state for some violation resulting from the use of this new technology. Since the passage of the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA) and the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) many states have maintained a questionable history of compliance at best. When states do try to enforce the law, they are often stopped by lawsuits or accusations of racism. How many more cases of voter fraud would one find if all states utilized sophisticated technology to verify the identify of voter registration applicants?

DOJ Whistle-blower J. Christian Adams offers his take on the problem and a possible solution:

“Motor Voter struck an important balance — it sought to increase voter registration, as well as ensure voter integrity. Welfare offices and motor vehicle offices became voter registration centers. But the law also required states to conduct list maintenance to ensure ineligible names don’t pollute the voting rolls. Dead people, ineligible felons, and people who moved away must be removed from the rolls by state election officials….

The decision of the Holder DOJ to ignore the integrity provisions of Section 8 is deliberate and corrupt. In November 2009, political appointee Julie Fernandes told the entire assembled DOJ Voting Section that the Obama administration would not enforce the list maintenance provisions of Section 8. Section 8 ‘doesn’t have anything to do with increasing minority turnout,’ Fernandes said. ‘We don’t have any interest in enforcing that part of the law.’ End of story.

Adams points out an important provision of the NVRA that EVERY American should be aware of: private action.

“Now, Americans are left to clean up the voter rolls on their own. Thankfully, Motor Voter provides a private right of action that means private citizens can bring lawsuits against states and voter registrars who are allowing dead and ineligible voters to taint the voter rolls

Using this private right of action, I have given sixteen states the legal notice required to alert them that they have violated Section 8 of Motor Voter. I am working with private citizens across the nation to help ensure that the elections in November aren’t plagued by ineligible voters. If the states don’t fix the problem, private lawsuits may follow. The sixteen notice letters rely on publicly available data and describe problems in the voter rolls.

Every two years, states must report to the Election Assistance Commission (EAC) information about their voter rolls. The latest report is troubling. South Dakota, Texas, Mississippi, Kentucky and Indiana report in excess of a dozen counties with more registered voters than living people old enough to vote. Having more voters than living humans tells you something is wrong. In West Virginia, one county reported 113% of the voting age population was registered to vote. Baltimore, Maryland, reported 104% of voting age citizens on the rolls. Iowa and North Carolina also reported counties with more voters than living citizens of voting age.

All of these states received a notice letter.”

Over the past two decades groups like ACORN and Project Vote have used ligation to chip away at the integrity of our electoral system. States like Ohio, and Maryland have been sued in order to ensure minorities access to voter registered in welfare offices (not surprisingly, a majority of those receiving public assistance tend to vote Democrat and therefore there is a partisan slant to this selected enforcement).

A review of some of the cases brought before the states show this selective enforcement and the tendency of these leftist groups to disregard measure put into place to protect the entire voting process.

ACORN v. Levy (formerly ACORN v. Scott) is a lawsuit filed in Kansas City, Missouri charging Deborah Scott, director of the Missouri Department Social Services (DSS), and Janel Luck, director of Family Services, with failing to fulfill their obligations under Section 7 of the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA) to implement voter registration programs in public assistance agencies.

Harkless et. al. v. Brunner et. al. The lawsuit filed in Ohio by ACORN, along with two individuals, charges Kenneth Blackwell, Secretary of State in Ohio and Barbara Riley, Director of the Department of Job and Family Services with failing to fulfill their obligations under Section 7 of the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA) to implement voter registration programs in public assistance agencies

ACORN vs. Cox – The lawsuit challenges a Georgia State Board of Election rule that states: No person may accept a completed registration application from an applicant unless such application has been sealed by the applicant. No copies of completed registration applications shall be made. The complaint claims the regulation violates the National Voter Rights Act and free speech and associational rights under the First Amendment by creating an undue burden on an organization’s right to assist applicants complete and submit voter applications to election officials. T

Florida NAACP v. Browning – In 2007, Florida law stated that a voter application would be considered invalid unless the state performed a successful database match or otherwise verified the applicant’s identifying number, leaving it to the voter applicant to prove otherwise. This troubled voting rights groups, which filed suit that year. Plaintiffs argued that this law effectively transformed the government function of assigning each voter a unique identifying number into a barrier to registration and voting.

It seems like groups like Project Vote and ACORN care little about electoral integrity and have even pushed litigation that would make it easier for illegal immigrants to vote in Arizona.

Gonzales v. Arizona – In this case registered voters in Arizona and voters’ rights groups including Project Vote challenged Proposition 200, an Arizona law that imposed proof of citizenship and voter ID requirements, which Plaintiffs argued disparately impact Latinos. Plaintiffs sought a Preliminary Injunction preventing the enforcement of these voter identification requirements.

Fortunately for voters, the case was dismissed with prejudice.

One has to wonder why there are not more organizations out there that are willing to litigate to really protect our elections. Adams was right, Americans do need to take matters into our own hands and utilize the private action clause of the NVRA. Dozens of states are not in compliance and weak or complicit Secretaries of States have stood in the way of upholding the law. Where does your state stand?

Without ACORN’s ground troops, local Democrats Resort to Questionable Voter Outreach Schemes

With less than thirty days left before the critical mid-term elections, Democrats may find themselves wishing that they had done a better job of controlling the media and deflecting attention from their desperate campaign tactics. With ACORN “dissolved” and no longer openly working as an unofficial arm of the Democrats, their candidates are left to do the dirty work.

Last month the New York Post broke a story about a local Brooklyn politician who had resorted to harassing voters directly in order to intimidate them.

“Assemblyman Vito Lopez bullied and cajoled eight little old ladies during an arm-twisting session aimed at getting them to back his candidate in a Brooklyn judicial race, a shocking audiotape obtained by The Post reveals.

‘I’m not a fool or stupid, all right?’ the Democrat railed at the elderly community leaders. ‘I can’t always give and get smacked, give and get smacked . . . I am the political leader.’

The May 2005 conversation, captured on a hidden recorder, not only exposes the 69-year-old Lopez’s heavy-handed tactics in dealing with his core elderly supporters but also offers a rare glimpse into the backrooms of bare-knuckle Brooklyn politics where Lopez reigns. “

According to Wikipedia:

“Voter intimidation involves putting undue pressure on a voter or group of voters so that they will vote a particular way, or not at all”

Wikipedia also defines voter intimidation as a form of electoral fraud or voter fraud. Though Democrats and a host of groups, including ACORN’s Project Vote, will insist that voter fraud does not exist, and is a product of an attempt to silence voters. However, as ACORN’s  “ground troops” are no longer available, it appears that desperate times have Democrats openly engaging in suspicious election activity.

Lopez plumbed the depths of corruption by hiring addicts (sound familiar?) to organize Get-Out-The-Vote for his campaign.

“Dozens of addicts living at a Brooklyn rehab facility funded by Assemblyman Vito Lopez clocked 16-hour shifts door-knocking, passing out fliers and singing songs of praise to help the embattled lawmaker get re-elected as district leader last month, sources told The Post.

‘They had them work from 5 a.m. until 9 p.m. passing out fliers and going door to door’ on Primary Day, Sept. 14, said Alejandro Hermida, recently discharged from the Williamsburg facility, El Regreso.

Diana Torres, who was campaigning outside PS 50 for her boyfriend — Lopez’s opponent Esteban Duran — said: ‘It was a spectacle. At one point, they had drums. They were singing. It was loud.’

‘We saw people from their campaign bringing them cigarettes, telling them to be loud and rowdy,’ Torres said. “They were chain-smoking, very jittery, aggressive people.’

Lopez and Pagan did not respond to requests for comment.

Lopez won by a landslide, 74 to 26 percent.”

Workers being paid in cigarettes? Recovering drug addicts given cash under the table? These are not just ACORN tactics, they are the tactics of what appears to be a party hijacked by radicals. Vote-buying is also considered a form of voter fraud. It is unclear if any of these “workers” were eligible to vote or  if they did. It is also unclear if they urged others to vote for Lopez with incentives like the ones they received. While such blatant actions should be denounced, the complicit media complex is still mourning the death of their beloved ACORN.

One such article pushes the idea of the “myth” of voter fraud :

“One of the tactics Republicans favor for deflecting attention from their voter suppression efforts is launching unmerited accusations of fraud on the part of pro-Democratic groups and individuals. For a glimpse of how this works, check out ‘Despite Dearth Of Evidence, Right Wing Voter Fraud Fear Machine Carries On’ by Ryan J. Reilly and Rachel Slajda at Talking Points Memo. The authors recount the smears against ACORN and the phony charge that the New Black Panthers were intimidating voters, and then explain how these incidents are being regurgitated in the latest fear-mongering campaign…

The fear-mongering about fraud and the attack against ACORN has worked depressingly well for Republicans. They succeeded in destroying one of the most successful organizations dedicated to registering poor and minority voters.

Lopez, who has close ties to the ACORN backed Working Families Party, has also been engaged in suspicious ACORN-like housing fraud.

“A federal housing scandal that left thousands of New Yorkers living in ramshackle homes turned out to be a pot of gold for a not-for-profit group closely linked to powerful Assemblyman Vito Lopez, The Post has learned.”

Unfortunately for New York, Lopez is not only working to undermine the electoral system, but he has also silenced the voice of the people through judicial cronyism.

In a city brimming with talented lawyers with sterling résumés, the word is that Brooklyn Democratic boss Vito Lopez is set this week to deliver a Supreme Court judgeship to an attorney whose chief qualifications include being the brother of Lopez’s girlfriend. The fix, as they say, is in.

This gross exercise in cronyism is calendared for Friday at the party’s judicial nominating convention, a rigged affair that will blatantly violate the constitutional rights of the borough’s voters. The federal courts have so ruled, but Lopez is proceeding smarmily apace, party insiders say.

And the bosses will violate the constitutional rights of the voters with every judge they make, screened or not. And all those judges will knowingly take their seats in violation of the Constitution. And the worst of the bunch, Lopez and Battaglia, will long stand as symbols of shamelessness – if, that is, they hold to form.

Lopez is an example of the systemic corruption that has been allowed to run rampant on the local level. Instead of working to protect our electoral system, certain groups and media outlets would rather raise the tried and true racial issue. By working in poor minority communities, these groups hope that you will look the other way while granny is intimidated and those same poor people are used as political pawns.

Protecting Our Electoral System: DC Internet Voting Pilot Hacked

Washington, DC plans to move ahead with a system that they hope will make it easier for citizens overseas to voter. Last week the District announced a new pilot project.

“The Board of Elections and Ethics today announced that the public examination phase of the Digital Vote by Mail pilot project for overseas voters will begin on Friday, September 24.

Digital Vote by Mail is a first-in-the-nation use of open source technology to provide a secure means for overseas voters to obtain, print and mail their ballot – and, if the voter chooses, also digitally mark and return their ballot. After testing is completed, the service will be made available to overseas voters, who often do not have enough time to receive and return their ballot by mail in the few weeks between the September primary and the November general election. Prior to Digital Vote by Mail, the only option for these voters was to sacrifice the secrecy of their ballot by using e-mail or fax.

During the test period, which will continue through Thursday, September 30, individuals who wish test and comment on the technology and usability of the application will be granted access to the application, a complete system architectural diagram, and access to the underlying source code.

Information about the project can be found here, and below is a sample invitation letter from the site (click to enlarge).

Testers are given access to the source code for the program and must answer a survey about the program. A review of the questions doesn’t inspire confidence in the overall security of the system, and one may find themselves wondering why the questions are so vague. Screen shot below (click to enlarge).

Apparently, some of the applicants for this pilot program had the same idea and were able to hack into the voting system in under 48 hours.

“I assembled a team from the University of Michigan, including my PhD students, Eric Wustrow and Scott Wolchok, and Dawn Isabel, a member of the University of Michigan technical staff.

Within 36 hours of the system going live, our team had found and exploited a vulnerability that gave us almost total control of the server software, including the ability to change votes and reveal voters’ secret ballots. In this post, I’ll describe what we did, how we did it, and what it means for Internet voting.”

The author of the post points out some well intentioned reasons for exploiting the voting system, and the most disturbing part of the article is that it took two days for DC to take down the program.  It was only after other testers noticed the University of Michigan fight song had been inserted. Who is overseeing this program? It appears that a lot of trust was placed with the testers and as previous elections have shown, there are a number of folks out there who would do terrible things with such access.

Here is a description of what the hackers were able to do:

Our demonstration attacks

D.C. launched the public testbed server on Tuesday, September 28. On Wednesday afternoon, we began to exploit the problem we found to demonstrate a number of attacks:

  • We collected crucial secret data stored on the server, including the database username and password as well as the public key used to encrypt the ballots.
  • We modified all the ballots that had already been cast to contain write-in votes for candidates we selected. (Although the system encrypts voted ballots, we simply discarded the encrypted files and replaced them with different ones that we encrypted using the same key.) We also rigged the system to replace future votes in the same way.
  • We installed a back door that let us view any ballots that voters cast after our attack. This modification recorded the votes, in unencrypted form, together with the names of the voters who cast them, violating ballot secrecy.
  • To show that we had control of the server, we left a “calling card” on the system’s confirmation screen, which voters see after voting. After 15 seconds, the page plays the University of Michigan fight song. Here’s a demonstration.

The testers plan to submit a paper based on their findings, but they do offer some conclusions based on their interactions with the online voting system.

“Based on this experience and other results from the public tests, the D.C. Board of Elections and Ethics has announced that they will not proceed with a live deployment of electronic ballot return at this time, though they plan to continue to develop the system. Voters will still be able to download and print ballots to return by mail, which seems a lot less risky.

D.C. officials brought the testbed server back up today (Tuesday) with the electronic ballot return mechanism disabled. The public test period will continue until Friday, October 8…

It may someday be possible to build a secure method for submitting ballots over the Internet, but in the meantime, such systems should be presumed to be vulnerable based on the limitations of today’s security technology.”

Here is the bland response from DC election officials:

“The program originally allowed voters to digitally return their ballot but that option has been removed and voters will have to either e-mail or fax their ballots.

‘The Board determined, with the assistance of the public examination community, that the current iteration of the ballot return feature did not meet our security and file integrity standards,’ the board said in a statement.”

Thank goodness this test was done now and the system was not allowed to compromise the November elections. As with all laws concerning voting or voter registration, citizens must be wary of such online voting systems, especially if one of the testers or designers is dishonest and chooses not to report found security lapses in the system. Such holes in the software security have the potential of allowing the integrity of the system to be compromised.

While our servicemen and women have trouble ensuring that their votes are counted, we must be diligent and not be fooled by alternatives that only sound safe and fair.

The ACORN Way: Break the law and then sue

Voters in Pennsylvania have not heard the last of ACORN. In 2009, ACORN workers were charged with several counts of voter registration fraud. Also, in Nevada last year ACORN employees  and senior staff were indicted amid charges of fostering an environment that led to voter registration fraud. When the news broke, ACORN officials at first denied use of a quota system, but after proof surfaced in the form of a Pittsburgh Tribune-Review article, ACORN decided to go on the offensive.

“Despite repeated denials of a quota system, a 2004 manual utilized by the activist community organization ACORN advises managers that workers who do not produce a set number of voter registrations per day should be fired.

‘If a person performs at less than standard have them come to another training, send them out with a team leader. If they still perform poorly then re-train once more, then fire,’ the 2004 management document states.

‘Anyone who performs at less than three voter registrations per hour SHOULD NOT BE ON THE STAFF,’ the directive states.

A quota system for voter registration drives is barred under state law and has been cited as a major factor in pending criminal cases in Pittsburgh. Seven people, all with ties to ACORN, have been charged by Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen A. Zappala Jr., with violating state election laws and submitting fraudulent voter registration applications. Those cases are pending.”

ACORN and its voter registration arm, Project Vote, operated massive incident filled voter registration and get-out-the-vote drives in a number of states. The 2004 map below gives voters an idea as to the scale of its operations.

ACORN’s denials of a quota system rang hollow especially with evidence like its own handbooks and the screen shot below, which is from ACORN’s Political Operations department:

Additionally, the unmodified documents shown below are from a 2005 Citizens Consulting Inc. presentation on payroll and accounting, and they reference incentives twice. Also referenced is payroll allocation forms for incentives. Below are screen shots of these documents.

ACORN has possibility committed felonies in several of the states where these drives were held. But in a bold move that illustrates the problems in the system, ACORN decided to file a federal lawsuit.

“The American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania and ACORN’s get-out-the-dead-people-to-vote affiliate Project Vote filed a federal lawsuit today in an effort to snuff out the Keystone State’s anti-election fraud law.

According to the ACLU the law has been misapplied by Allegheny County’s Democratic District Attorney Stephen Zappala Jr., who filed seven charges against former ACORN workers for falsifying voter registration forms. After preliminary hearings, all seven have been ordered to stand trial.

In a press release, the ACLU said the law has been misapplied ‘to prohibit an organization from using flexible productivity standards and goals to manage paid canvassers.’

Translation: efforts to crack down on election fraud are bad because, well, they crack down on election fraud.”

Last week, a judge in Pennsylvania ruled that ACORN is allowed to proceed with their lawsuit.

“A federal judge rejected a motion by state Attorney General Tom Corbett to toss out a portion of a lawsuit filed by the community group ACORN challenging the constitutionality of a law barring the use of quotas to pay voter registration workers.”

While some may argue that ACORN no longer exists, lawsuits like the one progressing through the court system in Pennsylvania should remind all voters of the continuing threat to our electoral system.

Suspicious Fire, Massive Voter Registration Fraud Plague County with ACORN-tied State Rep

An article posted at the site Texas GOP Vote highlights the close connection between State Representative Kristin Thibuat and ACORN:

“The Republican Party of Texas today unveiled a new website, kristiworksforacorn.com. The site documents Democrat state Rep. Kristi Thibaut’s sordid past and her involvement with the notorious leftwing organization ACORN. Thibaut is the incumbent in House District 133.”

State House District 133 encompasses Harris County, Texas the site of massive ACORN-like voter registration fraud and where a mysterious fire destroyed most of the voting machines in the county last week.

“Another blow has been dealt to voters in Harris County, Texas just days after the Harris County Voter Registrar Leo Vasquez released a 72 page PowerPoint on voting irregularities from a local group similar to the infamous ACORN.

‘The integrity of the voting rolls in Harris County, Texas, appears to be under an organized and systematic attack by the group operating under the name Houston Votes,” Vasquez said at a 2 p.m. press conference at his office, where he also released copies of applications in some of the most egregious cases.’

[Friday], voters are waking up with the news that the Harris County Election Technology Center was the site of a massive three-alarm fire early this morning.”

As the site kristiworksforacorn.com points out, Thibaut, actively worked for ACORN for a number of years, and was even a paid lobbyist for the group. Screen shot below. Click to enlarge.

By the way, yes, there was money flowing back and forth between Thibaut and ACORN.

A meeting was held yesterday in Harris County regarding purchasing new voting machines or other options regarding the upcoming elections.

Considering the current political climate and the impending sense of doom that most Democrats are experiencing, a situation is emerging it Harris County Texas and it reeks of corruption. Will voters have a chance to have their voices heard or are political players stacking the deck?
